Getting your car to Azerbaijan

Entry point: Port of Baku.
How it travels: By sea. RoRo or container from Bremerhaven or Hamburg, insured and tracked to the port.

The German half is the same for every destination outside the EU: we buy the car, arrange an independent inspection if you want one, register the export plates, file the ATLAS customs declaration and collect the exit confirmation that releases the 19% German VAT. You receive that file — contract, declaration and proof of exit — because your customs authority will ask for it.

Emission class and the EAEU tariff

Azerbaijan requires imported vehicles to meet the Euro 4 emission standard, so the emission class on the German registration document is the first thing we check — before price, before condition.

Georgia applies a 5% customs duty and 18% VAT on the CIF value, with an excise that scales sharply with the age of the car. A proposed outright ban on vehicles older than six years was replaced in 2026 with a much steeper excise rate instead, which makes the model year a cost question rather than a yes-or-no question.

What we need to start

  • A listing link from mobile.de or AutoScout24, or a specification if you want us to search.
  • Your destination city, so we can price delivery beyond Port of Baku.
  • Whether you are buying privately or as a company — it changes the paperwork and often the cost.
